The bathroom is pretty nice, I’m sorry I don’t have more pictures (I can’t believe I forgot my feet picture), but it’s a one-person bathroom and there was a line outside the door…and I don’t want to inconvenience anyone having to use the bathroom (I don’t appreciate it much). I kinda tripped out over the chalkboard, I’m not really sure why it’s there, but if I had more time (and some chalk), I would have at least put BathroomGoodies.com on it. I’ll have to do that next time, and I’ll grab some more photos (including a feet shot!) next time I’m there. Three rolls for an average clean bathroom, plus half a roll for the chalkboard (man I wish I’d had some chalk!)

The bathroom was pretty impressive…it was painted two-tone aqua and white and nicely decorated! I’m not sure what the deal was with putting the toilet paper so high (see picture #2), but that was really the only complaint I had here.  The art was pretty cool, too. Overall, I’ll give ‘em three-and-a-half rolls for a great bathroom (they would have gotten four except for that toilet paper height…I fail to see the logic in design when everything else was so well done!) I thought the flowers and bow-and-arrow set with quiver was certainly interesting. Cupid anyone?

The bathroom was not at all what I was expecting! Honestly, I was expecting dark and dingy…instead, it’s pink and white! The stalls are gray, and they have their upcoming events on the mirror. This is a clean bathroom and comes recommended (come for the bathroom, stay for the food!).

Okey dokey…wow, this was further back than I thought! Here I was thinking I was gonna talk a bit about the Double Down sandwich and it turns out this was a much earlier outing (I guess twice in 3-4 months isn’t horrible). So I can only guess this was about the time they released the grilled spicy wings (would be about right…around football season marching toward “the big game”—thanks for not suing me, NFL!). On a side note, the Double Down sandwich a couple months later was alright, but overly greasy (they were fresh…think they might have needed to sit a bit), and frankly, missing a bun. Not sure about the missing bun thing…although it probably saves a couple hundred calories off a quarter of your daily intake (540 original/460 grilled…nearly half from fat…from KFC’s nutritional document—requires Adobe Reader). Two trips in four months now seems like more than enough.

Anyway…onto the bathrooms…they’re more or less your “neo-typical” fast-food bathrooms. Nothing fancy, but not the old dingy look from back in the day. They’re nicely accented with red tiles on the white background, and the staff does a decent job of keeping them clean. I’ll give ‘em 3 rolls for a clean bathroom and not the plain ol’ white.

I always like to see clean restrooms in fast food joints because it’s slightly encouraging that the kitchen may not be terrible. People get all weirded out with bacteria and grease build-up, but are a-okay with eating two slices of pepperjack cheese and two slices of bacon between two fried chicken breasts…

Anyway, on this night I’m pretty sure I had Kow Pad Kra Pow, which is a fantastic dish with fried Jasmine rice, basil leaves, and chicken. The rice on this plate wasn’t white like normal…it was pink (thanks to the spices and chiles). I threw on a little peanut sauce (it goes great on just about anything, like Incredible John’s Spicy Peanut Butter Pizza, upon which the sauce is like a cross between peanut butter and peanut sauce). This particular meal was one of the very best I’ve had at Thai Basil (although it’s great food every time…)

Ok, ok, enough about the food. Ironically, all I used was the urinal here, but the bathrooms are clean and inviting. The colors are dark and muted—until you get to the counter, which are a dark blue with seashell-shaped cobalt blue sinks. The floor is done in black and white tiles, and the stalls are a rich dark wood color…four rolls for the stand-out sinks and counter coordinated with the muted dark bathroom.

Boy how times have changed—this bathroom uses woodgrain stalls and tiles with a woodgrain-ish appearance. I don’t really get why buildings built in the last few years use manual toilets anymore, it seems people oppose flushing (or maybe just touching the flusher) and automatic toilets certainly keep things cleaner. In picture four you’ll see hand washing instructions, which I found interesting since McD’s never gave up the hot-air hand dryers (I hate those things)…sort of a throwback to those days of yore. Three rolls for a clean bathroom; it’d get three-and-a-half except for those air dryers.

The bathroom is clean, cool (temperature-wise), and smells great (often overlooked and so very important when it comes to bathrooms…). You can see, in the first (entrance) picture, the air freshener near the mirror. If you’re wondering what’s the deal with picture number four, I found it interesting that 1) there had previously been at least one other soap dispenser, and 2) the soap dispenser is closer to the toilet than the sink (not that it takes a ton more energy or effort to wash your hands with the soap dispenser being further from the sink, it’s just odd). Anyway, bathroom is clean and smells good, it gets three rolls.

The bathroom is a pretty happy place at Red Robin (like the rest of the restaurant)—lots of bright vibrant colors and a friendly reminder as you walk in to wash your hands after using the restroom (check it out in the entrance picture). Oddly enough there’s only one urinal in here, too (and emergency lights…still laughin’)—maybe it’s a new-restaurant-in-Lincoln thing (both Red Robin and Mimi’s were built here within the last couple of years). Three-and-a-half rolls for the clean well-lit brightly colored bathroom.

Overall, the bathroom is clean and well-designed. I’m not sure why there’s only one urinal, that seems odd where the minimum is usually two. It’s not a big deal or a dealbreaker, just odd. I love the tile floor you can see in picture three, and I had to laugh when I looked at the emergency lights (shown in picture four). The thought of getting stuck in a bathroom when an emergency occurs and having it lit up like a football stadium makes me laugh. Yeah, I probably do need help. Three-and-a-half rolls.

If you’ve already seen the pictures, you’re probably wondering “What’s the deal with picture number four?!?” or “Why would he post that?”—fear not, I briefly entertained the same thoughts. Then…enlightenment…I re-read the brand of toilet seat cover dispenser…and started laughing again. Puns may suck, and puns as brand names might not work so great, but if you make toilet seat cover holders what are you gonna do? Can you imagine the group naming sessions for toilet seat cover dispensers? “Rest Assured” seems like a much better idea than anything I would come up with (I don’t think you could print—or sell—anything I’d come up with). The bathroom is decorated in tans and browns (with blue notices in-line with the Lowe’s brand), and they have two kidney-shaped sinks that I think are pretty cool…complete with sensors for saving water. For a clean bathroom with a few cool aspects, I give ‘em three-and-a-half rolls.
